Making The Most Of Your Searches For Background Checks

One of the keys in finding a good online company to perform background checks for you is knowing how to search for them. There is a saying, “Google is your friend”, but no one ever finished that saying. It should end with, “If you use it right”. Now on one hand you may think that since there is abundance of companies that perform the service of checking into peoples’ backgrounds, your job of finding them on the internet would be easier. In fact the opposite is more likely to be true simply because most people don’t know the ins and outs of how search engines work.

One of the tricks is to put exactly what you’re looking for into the search bar. Avoid words like “and”, “if”, “or”, etc……. because search engines typically do not pick up on those. These are called Boolean characters and most engines discount those as not being legitimate words with meaning. If you are looking to perform a background check on a person then, basically, you should type that in.

When you do that but still do not get the results you need, try what is called nesting. This is the practice of putting parentheses before and after the words you are tying in. ” Background Check” for example should give you mare precise results then the same words with the parentheses. This somehow clarifies what is wanted to the search engine so it is able to perform a more exact search.

Once you find what you are looking for, a lot of these sites will have search bars within their sites that act like a normal “Google” bar. You type in the name of the business or person you are looking for and it will scan its database for the information. At this point in your search, within the website, you do not really need to be concerned with being as exact with your wording. Search bars such as this do not have the technical configurations that their big brothers do simply because they don’t need to. Their database of information isn’t nearly as big and it is more centered around a common theme. People and businesses.
