You Need To Do a Background Check

Are you under the impression that a full background check is going to be expensive and / or that you as a “regular person” won’t be able to uncover the true facts about someone’s background. If so, you are not the only one who thinks this, and you are not the only one who is wrong in this matter.

Make sure you do a background check on everyone.

You never know what they’re trying to hide.

Thanks to information technology, the Internet, and the public accessibility of information, provided you know where to look, it is easier than ever to conduct a full background check on a person that will show you whatever history they have.

If you are asking why you should run a full background check, the reasons are endless, and all you need to do is read the archives on this site to know why. There are numerous stories that prove it is better to be safe than sorry.

The next problem is how to approach the individual you would like to screen. While you can do a background check on someone and not have them know about it, the simplest way is to be upfront and honest, and tell them exactly what you would like to do, and even ask them for information to make this easier for you. This may sound somewhat awkward, but keep in mind that if someone is not open to the idea, than they can also probably not be trusted.

Don’t wait a month or two until you decide to check them out. You could be harboring a criminal, or registered sex offender, which makes every day that passes a greater risk. Unfortunately, in this day and age, the risk you take by trusting someone without knowing their background is too great not to know their history.

Below is an article about someone who trusted practically nobody with her children, but went ahead and hired a caretaker. She thoroughly checked on the person before hand, including contacting former employers. Later on she even asked the caretaker for his social security number so she could do a background check.
